Islamabad [Pakistan], Oct 27 (ANI): Pakistan's Supreme Court on Saturday restored a ban on the broadcast of Indian content on local television.
"They are trying to (obstruct the construction) of our dam and we cannot even ban their channels?" Mian Saqib Nisar, the Chief Justice of Pakistan said during the hearing of the case filed by the United Producers Association, according to the Dawn.
Nisar ordered a complete "shut down" on the broadcast of Indian shows on Pakistani television channels while adding that "only appropriate content" should be aired.
A blanket ban on the airing of Indian shows on Pakistani television and radio channels was previously imposed by the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) in 2016, in what was seen as a retaliatory measure due to similar treatment of Pakistani talent and content by the Indian entertainment industry.
The ban was later nullified by the Lahore High Court in 2017 as the court highlighted that no objections had been raised by Pakistan's government towards this. (ANI)
