French President trolled for calling Australian First lady 'delicious'

New Delhi [India], May 1 (ANI): French President Emmanuel Macron is being mercilessly trolled on the social media after he reportedly called Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull's wife Lucy Turnbull "delicious".

Macron is said to have made this comment in a press conference on Tuesday which later got viral among the social media users as some of them trolled and others supported him.

There were many who said as the primary language of Macron is French; it is possible that he would have been a victim of wrong translation.

Further, some said that it was a case of slip of the tongue.

Media organisation Sky News reporter Tom Connell took to his Twitter account to say, " French President describes Lucy Turnbull as the PM's 'delicious wife' as supported his tweet with #lostintranslation

The Australian media house Nine News Australia seemed to have not taken Macron's reported comment lightly as it tweeted, "Only a French President could get away with calling our Prime Minister's wife "delicious"."

Political reporter for the BuzzFeed Alice Workman posted a witty tweet as he wrote "Macron just said he wanted to thank Malcolm Turnbull and his "delicious wife". You can take the man out of France but..."

The reported comment of 'delicious wife' got so famous in Twitter that it featured on the Twitter moments as well as it included several tweets by people on the said remark.

"Lost in translation? @EmmanuelMacron just called the Australian Prime Minister's (@TurnbullMalcolm) wife "delicious."

It is also being reported that Macron just wanted to thank President Turnbull and his wife for their hospitality.

As per BBC, Macron was on a diplomatic trip to Australia.

The said comment was made during a private dinner event attended by President Macron, President Malcolm Turnbull and Australian First Lady Lucy Turnbull. (ANI)
