Islamabad [Pakistan], May 9 (ANI): Soon after former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif warned not to allow delaying of general elections, opposition leader Khursheed Shah also voiced the same.
As reported by the Geo TV, Shah while addressing Pakistan Peoples Party's (PPP) workers convention in Saidu Sharif on Tuesday said that delay in general polls is undesirable.
"We don't want any delay in general polls," Shah said while noting that the main objective of politics is to serve people.
He made another statement that "Politics is not just an ambition to become the prime minister."
He further discussed the merger of federally administered tribal areas with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Shah then invited the participants of the rally to visit Sindh to overview the education and health sector.
The current government is expected to conclude its five-year term on May 31, after which the caretaker government will take over to hold general elections.
Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, on May 4 said that general election would be held within 60 days after the formation of an interim government.
As per the Constitution of Pakistan, the caretaker prime minister is appointed by the prime minister in consultation with the opposition leader in the National Assembly. (ANI)
