Seoul, [South Korea] May 10 (ANI): South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-Wha will hold bilateral talks with United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo pertaining to North Korea alliance issues.
According to the South Korean news agency, Yonhap, this will be Kang's first official meeting with Pompeo in Washington DC, scheduled for May 11.
"They plan to have in-depth consultations on ways for South Korean and US diplomatic authorities to coordinate for the denuclearization of North Korea and establishment of peace on the Korean Peninsula through the success of the North Korea-U.S. summit," Yonhap quoted the South Korean foreign ministry as saying.
Kang and Pompeo will devise a strategy for producing favourable results during the Kim-Trump summit.
The official meet comes at a time when the two Koreas have decided to sign a peace treaty formally later this year, ending the 65-year-old war between the two countries.
Earlier, Pompeo, on his second trip to Pyongyang, had met North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un and fine-tuned details ahead of the Trump meeting, scheduled to be held in late May or June.(ANI)
