New York [USA], Sep 26 (ANI): United States President Donald Trump on Wednesday accused China of meddling in the forthcoming midterm elections in November in order to oust him, owing to his aggressive economic sanctions against Beijing.
Trump made his claims during his address at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), CNN reported.
"Regrettably, we found that China has been attempting to interfere in our upcoming 2018 election coming up in November against my administration," Trump said.
"They do not want me or us to win because I am the first president ever to challenge China on trade. We are winning on trade. We are winning at every level. We don't want them to meddle or interfere in our upcoming election," Trump added.
Trump's election to the President's office in 2016 has long been surrounded with Russian interference links, although the former real estate magnate has maintained that there was no such collusion with any foreign nation.
Notably, Trump did not mention the Russian meddling during his address to the UNSC. (ANI)
