Washington D.C. [USA], Oct 22 (ANI): The United States of America will begin cutting off "or substantially reducing" aid given to Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador in the wake of the migrant caravan which is headed towards the USA.
US President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Monday to announce, "Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador were not able to do the job of stopping people from leaving their country and coming illegally to the U.S. We will now begin cutting off, or substantially reducing, the massive foreign aid routinely given to them."
He further slammed the Democrat party and tweeted, "Every time you see a Caravan, or people illegally coming, or attempting to come, into our Country illegally, think of and blame the Democrats for not giving us the votes to change our pathetic Immigration Laws! Remember the Midterms! So unfair to those who come in legally."
Trump also termed the migrant caravan situation as a "national emergency" and called for a change in laws. "Sadly, it looks like Mexico's Police and Military are unable to stop the Caravan heading to the Southern Border of the United States. Criminals and unknown Middle Easterners are mixed in. I have alerted Border Patrol and Military that this is a National Emergy. Must change laws!", he tweeted.
Hundreds of migrants, belonging to the Latin American nations, continue their journey towards the United States of America for a better life, fleeing violence and poverty in their countries.
Trump's announcement comes days after he had issued threats to "stopping all payments" to the countries on October 18, while claiming that the caravan got "criminal elements and DRUGS" along with it to the USA. (ANI)
