Washington, July 16 (ANI): The ISIS media branch has claimed responsibility for the Nice terror attack in France that killed 84 people when a truck rammed into the crowd celebrating Bastille day. In an online statement by the terror group's media agency Amaq and circulated by its supporters, it said the person behind the attack is an ISIS "soldier," reports CNN. The attacker identified as Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel (31) by the police, drove a truck through crowds on the beachfront Thursday, killing dozens and injuring more than 200 people. The rented, refrigerated truck weighed about 20 tons. By Saturday, the French authorities had detained five people including the ex-wife of attacker, the Paris anti-terrorism prosecutor's office said. However, investigations are still underway and France has not yet indicated whether the attack stemmed from a sympathizer taking direction from ISIS or an ISIS member sent to attack. (ANI)
