Nepali Congress unveils poll manifesto

Kathmandu [Nepal], April 25 (ANI): Nepal's largest political party in the Parliament, the Nepali Congress on Tuesday unveiled its election manifesto with a focus on economic prosperity. It has also become the first party to bring forward the manifesto for the local election scheduled for the next month. Former Prime Minister of Nepal as well as President of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba unveiled the manifesto in a program organized at party head office in Sanepa. The 52-page manifesto promises to make optimum use of water and human resource for the prosperity of the nation with the focus in development of agriculture and tourism sector. The party has also promised to give right to the local levels for the creation of favorable environment for the investments. The Nepali Congress also presented ambiguous plan of creating five lakh job opportunities in a year. With 20 days remaining for the commencement of local polls, Nepali Congress solely has unveiled its manifesto. Other political parties of Nepal have claimed to be preparing the manifesto but are yet to announce the date to unveil it. The delay thus seen has ignited the fear that the polls will not be held in the speculated dates. The cabinet meeting on Sunday gave a nod to the Election Commission to hold the elections in two phases which the government hopes agitating parties participate in the election. (ANI)
