Ouagadougou, [Burkina Faso] Mar 2 (ANI): Hours after explosion and gunfire rocked different locations of the capital city of Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou, including the army headquarters, it was revealed that the situation is "under control".
According to media reports, sources revealed that the situation was under control at French diplomatic premises after the attack.
It was also reported that four attackers were killed in the assault on the embassy and the military hq.
Moreover, the eyewitnesses claimed that the firing began at around 10 am (local time) in the morning along with an explosion in the car parking of the army headquarters in the capital caused by possibly one or two car bombs, reported The Guardian.
Around the same time, gunfire was heard close to the French Embassy.
The Guardian further reported that the latest violence, which appeared to be the boldest attack, came in the line of smaller incidents around the West African country where schools and teachers were continuously targeted by Islamist terror groups in support of their demand for an education system based on the Quran.
On a related note, a similar attack by gunmen at a restaurant in the capital last year left at least 18 people of different nationalities dead. (ANI)
