Washingon D.C. [USA], Mar 5 (ANI): Putting speculations to rest, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Monday (local time) ruled out a run in the 2020 Presidential election.
"I'm not running, but I'm going to keep on working and speaking and standing up for what I believe," the former First Lady told CNN.
"I want to be sure that people understand I'm going to keep speaking out. I'm not going anywhere," she said.
Clinton last contested the 2016 election as the Presidential candidate from the Democratic party. Enjoying former US President Barack Obama's support, she was touted to be elected as the US President. However, she was defeated by Republican candidate Donald Trump, who currently serves as the 45th President of the United States.
She has been a vocal critic of the incumbent US President and has been especially critical of Trump's stance towards immigration and the separation of minors from their migrant parents at the US borders.
Meanwhile, Bernie Sanders - who Clinton beat to emerge as the Democratic candidate in 2016 - has announced his Presidential bid for 2020 as well. He joins a string of Democrats who have announced their intention to run as the Presidential contender from the Democratic party for 2020. (ANI)
