Pakistan must crack down on Jaish-e-Mohammad and all terrorists: US NSA

Washington, Feb 16 (ANI) The US on Saturday said Pakistan “must crack down” on Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and “all terrorists operating from its territory”, mounting pressure on Islamabad in the wake of “reprehensible” Pulwama attack.
US National Security Adviser John Bolton made it clear that Pakistan should deny safe haven and support to terrorists.
Bolton made these observations in a tweet after speaking to his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval.
“I expressed condolences to NSA Doval yesterday for the reprehensible terrorist attack on India. Pakistan must crack down on JeM and all terrorists operating from its territory. Countries should uphold UNSC responsibilities to deny safe haven and support for terrorists,” he tweeted.
A CRPF convoy, while moving from Jammu to Srinagar, was attacked on Thursday by a suicide bomber in Lethpora area of Pulwama district of Kashmir on the national highway, killing around 40 security personnel.
A statement issued by India’s External Affairs Ministry earlier today said, “Ambassador Bolton supported India’s right to self-defence against cross-border terrorism. He offered all assistance to India to bring the perpetrators and backers of the attack promptly to justice.”
It added that the NSAs “resolved to hold Pakistan to account for its obligations under UN resolutions and to remove all obstacles to designating JeM leader Masood Azhar as global terrorist under the UN Security Council Resolution 1267 Committee process.” (ANI)
