Washington D.C. [United States], Sept 30 (ANI): United States President Donald Trump has criticised San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz for her remarks that the White House isn't doing enough to support Puerto Ricans in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.

Trump also accused Cruz of "poor leadership" and said she "wants everything to be done for them when it should be a community effort."

"The Mayor of San Juan, who was very complimentary only a few days ago, has now been told by the Democrats that you must be nasty to Trump," Trump tweeted.

"Such poor leadership ability by the Mayor of San Juan, and others in Puerto Rico, who are not able to get their workers to help. They want everything to be done for them when it should be a community effort. 10,000 Federal workers now on Island doing a fantastic job (sic)," Trump added in a series of tweets.

Trump also once again hailed federal government's response on the island and said that the military and the first responders, despite no electric, roads, phones etc., have done an amazing job.

However, Puerto Rico is still facing a humanitarian crisis, and many of its people remain without power and water.

Mayor Cruz said her goal was to save lives without getting distracted by anything else.

At least 16 people on the island have been reported killed and there was widespread damage to homes, roads and infrastructure.

Trump is scheduled to visit Puerto Rico on Tuesday along with First Lady Melania Trump.

He also continued his tirade against the Fake Media and said CNN and NBC were being biased in their coverage of the relief effort in the region.

"Fake News CNN and NBC are going out of their way to disparage our great First Responders as a way to "get Trump." Not fair to FR or effort! The Fake News Networks are working overtime in Puerto Rico doing their best to take the spirit away from our soldiers and first R's. Shame! (sic)" he tweeted.
