Rameswaram (Tamil Nadu), Dec 31 (ANI): In yet another incident, the Sri Lankan Navy arrested 13 fishermen for allegedly fishing in its territorial waters. The fishermen hailed from Tamil Nadu’s Ramanathapuram. Two boats were also seized by the Lankan navy. Earlier this month, 27 Indian fishermen were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy and their 5 trawlers seized. Fishermen from both countries frequently stray into each other’s territory and end up spending years in jails. Detention of Indian fishermen by Lankan authorities is frequent as they often cross the International Maritime Boundary Line for fishing in its waters.
