52-year-old woman offers prayers at Sabarimala temple amid protest

Sannidhanam (Kerala), Nov 06 (ANI): A woman devotee identified as Lalitha, aged 52-year-old, from Kerala’s Thrissur successfully offered prayers at the Sabarimala Shrine on Tuesday. Lalitha’s entry was opposed by protestors. She completed her pilgrimage under police protection. She was accompanied by her family members. Sabarimala Temple had reopened for 24 hours prayers on Monday evening. Security has also been tightened amid standoff between Hindu outfits and Kerala government over entry of women of all ages in the temple premises. Hindu outfits have been protesting against entry of women in the temple. Over 2000 police personnel have been deployed near the temple ahead of its reopening. Protests erupted after Supreme Court’s verdict on Sabarimala Temple allowing women of all age groups to enter the temple premises.
