72nd I-Day: Glimpse of Modi Govt’s achievements in past 4 years

New Delhi, Aug 15 (ANI): On the 72nd Independence Day today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Government has completed four years of its tenure. During four years Modi Government introduced several schemes for the betterment of the people. It also implemented Demonetisation and Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the country which were highly criticized by opposition parties. Here is the list of PM Modi-led Government’s achievements in past four years: Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY): According to the official website, under the scheme over 30 crore Jan Dhan Accounts have been opened so far. 80% of Indian adults have a bank account today. Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code: Modi Government mandates a new framework for debt recovery and time-bound resolution of cases, given the rise of bad debts in country’s economy. Due to Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) that India has moved up 30 places to rank 100th in the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business Report 2018. Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY): It is a scheme launched by the Prime Minister on April 8, 2015 for providing loans upto 10 lakh to the non-corporate, non-farm small/micro enterprises. These loans are classified as MUDRA loans under PMMY. These loans are given by Commercial Banks, RRBs, Small Finance Banks, Cooperative Banks, MFIs and NBFCs. Goods and Services Tax: GST was rolled out on July 1 and got criticism by the Opposition. After initial hiccups its collection in April has crossed the Rs 1 lakh crore mark for the first time, suggesting stabilisation of the new indirect tax regime. Direct Tax Collection: The direct tax collection has steadily been rising in the country on the back of strict norms by the income tax department. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana: This scheme aims to provide housing for all by 2022. PMAY was introduced by the Centre on 1 April 2016. Swachh Bharat Mission: Swachh Bharat Mission aims to accelerate the efforts to achieve universal sanitation coverage and to put focus on sanitation. The scheme was launched on October 02, 2014.
