BJP shifted to Hindu-Muslim politics for votes after Modi govt failed: Randeep Surjewala

Updated:3 months ago IST

New Delhi, Jul 16 (ANI): Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala clarified Congress minority cell chief Nadeem Javed’s statement in an Urdu daily on Monday. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claimed that Javed’s statement in the newspaper confirmed Rahul Gandhi’s claim that Congress is a ‘Muslim Party’. Responding to these attacks, Surjewala said, “I read the interview which is being talked about and even made a friend well versed in Urdu read it for me. What was exactly written was that, Dalits, poverty ridden, poor and the minority community have been of primary concern to Congress and to the nation. What is wrong in that? The truth is, Modi ji couldn’t provide 50% profit on the cost price of the farmers, couldn’t provide jobs to 2 crore youth, business was marred by note ban and GST, women are being attacked, Dalits and poor are being subjected to subjugation and violence, hatred is being propagated in the name of minorities. When Modi ji’s government failed to show positive results in 50 months, then they shifted to Hindu-Muslim politics for votes.”
