Udhampur (Jammu & Kashmir), Nov 16 (ANI): At least 25 registered fishermen of Udhampur district received cycles as well as the load carriers provided by fisheries department. With an aim to provide better facilities to the fishermen and to boost the fisheries culture, government of India and state government launched several schemes. One such scheme is Centre’s Blue Revolution scheme under which cycles and load carriers are given to fishermen in rural areas to facilitate better access to city consumers. The new strategy appears to have struck a chord with the state’s fishing communities. These cycles as well as the load carriers will be useful in bringing fish to the consumers, either at the local fish markets or the consumers’ doorstep.
