Cauvery Water Dispute: Karnataka gets additional 14.75 TMC water, Tamil Nadu to study order

New Delhi, Feb 16 (ANI): The Supreme Court in its verdict on the Cauvery Water issue on Thursday decided the Supreme Court on Friday pronounced that Karnataka be given 14.75 TMC of the river water while 177.25 TMC of water be released for Tamil Nadu. Lawyer Brijesh Kalappa said, “The allocations of Karnataka have been enhanced. The allocations which used to be 270 TMC have been increased to 284.75 TMC. The water share of Tamil Nadu has been reduced.” Supreme Court said that 20 TMC of ground water in Tamil Nadu had not been accounted for and needed to be seen. The SC said that Karnataka will get an additional 14.75 TMC for the Bengaluru city for drinking purposes, as the city is reeling with water shortages, while 177.25 TMC of Cauvery water to be released for Tamil Nadu.
