Company fires woman for being HIV positive, court orders reinstation

Pune (Maharashtra), Dec 04 (ANI): Labour court ordered a pharma company to reinstate a woman employee who was terminated three years ago and to provide her wages of that period. She was removed from the company for being HIV positive. The woman had moved to the court saying she was forced to resign for having HIV. She said, “I was asked to submit document for Mediclaim and when I did that, they asked me about it (HIV). I told them I got it from my husband and within 30 minutes, they forced me to resign. I was working there as trainee operator for 5 years”.
