Congress terms Venkaiah Naidu’s impeachment notice rejection as ‘unprecedented’, ‘illegal’

New Delhi, Apr 23 (ANI): Congress leader Kapil Sibal on Monday opposed the decision by Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu to reject the Opposition’s impeachment notice against Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra as ‘unprecedented’ and ‘illegal’. Kapil Sibal asserted that the party will file a petition in Supreme Court against impeachment motion against CJI “Never before the history of India an impeachment motion moved by the Members of Parliament has been dismissed at the preliminary stage therefore it is unprecedented, it is illegal because the Chairman passed an order which is required to be passed after fully fledged enquiry,” said Sibal. M. Venkaiah Naidu, Rajya Sabha Chairman on Monday rejected the Opposition’s impeachment notice against Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra. Venkaiah Naidu claimed that the Opposition party MPs were unsure of their own case and was based on ‘suspicion and conjectures.’
