Development picks pace in Jharkhand’s Latehar after Naxals vanish

Updated:3 months, 1 week ago IST

Latehar (Jharkhand), Oct 13 (ANI): Once known to be a hotbed of the violent Naxal movement, Jharkhand’s Latehar district’s Garu block had rarely seen any sort of development for decades. But the scenario in Garu has started to change ever since Naxalites were driven out of the area. The development process has also begun in the area with roads being constructed to make commuting easier for the Adivasi populace living here. The story of this area yet again reiterates one important aspect of the ongoing red terror conflict – that is - wherever Naxal presence has reduced, the area has witnessed development. Because with their ideology, activities, and violent presence, Naxals tend to hinder any kind of work being undertaken to bring tribal communities to the mainstream. For any kind of development in the Adivasi areas, the most important thing is to eliminate the Naxals because the anti-establishment elements are motivated to do anything and everything to hinder development. Actually, the Naxalites don’t want the tribal areas to develop so that they can continue to dictate their sinister stipulations on the poor tribal people. They go to any extent to trouble the Adivasis so that they feel forced to join the almost dead movement. But now, the Adivasis are starting to understand their vicious agendas and are determined to drive them away so that their area can see the long due development.
