People in large number gathered to protest against increased censorship, violation of basic human rights and the denial of freedom of religion and the right to study the Tibetan language. NGOs like Tibetan Youth Congress, Tibetan Women's Association, Students for a Free Tibet, National Democratic Party of Tibet and Gu Chu Sum (an association of former Political Prisoners of Tibet) were gathered for the joint press conference.
