Free gas connections under PMUY uplifts lives of rural women in Kathua

Kathua (Jammu & Kashmir), Aug 08 (ANI): Lives of rural women in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district will be much easier and better as they are provided free gas connections under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). More than 4000 gas connections are distributed among the rural women who belong to scheduled tribe and scheduled caste community in Kathua district. With such initiatives women are assured of their good health. A woman beneficiary said, “Initially we used to burn logs of wood and with this provision the environment would be safe. The health of women is very important and this initiative will ensure that.” Minister of State for PMO, Jitendra Singh who distributed the gas connections to women said, “The initiative has been taken considering the kitchen facilities to be given to women but also considering their health. As of now the beneficiaries of this Yojana have reached to 5 crores. In this programme 29 women were given documents of the connections.”
