Sambalpur (Odisha), Oct 29 (ANI): Mahatma Gandhi, the father of our nation throughout his life worked towards creating an atmosphere of peace and harmony among all the countrymen. He strongly condemned class and caste-based discriminations and treated everyone equally. Even today, his principles serve as a beacon of light to guide humanity to a better world. A living proof of it stands in the Odisha’s Sambalpur district, where a temple dedicated to Gandhiji is built and is thronged by the people from all walks of life. Have a look. Situated in Bhatra, a Harijan suburb of Odisha’s Sambalpur district, the temple of Gandhi ji stands as a symbol of religious sanity and secularism, the foundation on which our nation was built. The entrance of the temple is guarded by Ashoka Stambha or National Emblem, which itself is symbolic of peace and goodwill. People from all religions and castes throng the temple to pay their obeisance to Mahatma Gandhi, whose 3.5 feet tall bronze idol is placed in its sanctum sanctorum. Inaugurated in the year 1974, the temple was the brainchild of Abhimanyu Kumar, who was the member of Odisha Legislative Assembly for 18 years.
