Gujarat/HP, Dec 18 (ANI): While the counting of votes is underway for Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh assembly polls, a neck-to-neck fight between the Congress and BJP is being witnessed as depicted by the early trends. The trends showed the BJP leading on 24 seats in Gujarat while the Congress was leading on four seats in Himachal Pradesh. A total of 337 candidates, including 19 women, are in fray to sweep the polls in the hilly state consisting of 68 constituencies. In Gujarat, the tough fight is on 182 seats with incumbent Chief Minister Vijay Rupani-led BJP seeking a sixth straight term in office now. While majority of exit polls have predicted BJP's win, the Congress is hopeful of bagging votes of influential Patidar community, which up till now have backed the saffron party, and overthrowing BJP from 22 years of governance in the state. Elections in the BJP-ruled state were held in two phases with 977 candidates in fray in the first phase, while 851 candidates fought in the second phase.
