Herd of over 120 elephants enter habilitated areas in Mayurbhanj, destroys livelihood

Mayurbhanj (Odisha), Dec 15 (ANI): Over 120 elephants entered villages in the Rasgovindpur forest range in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district from the border areas of West Bengal. The herd destroyed hundreds of acres of paddy fields and houses in the area. The elephants have been spotted in 3-4 groups in the area. The rampage unleashed by the elephants has wrecked havoc in the lives of farmers and villagers. It has become a prevalent activity in the past 2-3 months. Villagers risk their lives to shoo-away these massive mammals to save their houses and crops. Villagers have on several occasions protested against the Forest Department, however the authorities are yet to take any action.
