Human v/s wildlife: Displaced monkeys find shelter on Delhi roads

Updated:1 year, 3 months ago IST

New Delhi, Oct 03 (ANI): In a recent order by the Delhi High Court, the wildlife conservation organisations and local bodies in the city have been asked to prepare an action plan to sterilise and vaccinate the monkeys in a bid to control the increasing population of rhesus macaques, a species of Old World monkeys, and to reduce growing human-animal conflicts in the city. The monkeys can be seen perched atop buildings, gates, carts, telephone and electric wires looking out for eatables. Many locals complain that they even “attack” people carrying food items. An action plan has been prepared under which troops of monkeys will be captured for sterilisation and vaccination.
