If Delhi govt pays fare of women commuters, Delhi Metro should be happy with it: Manish Sisodia

Updated:1 month ago IST

New Delhi, Jun 15 (ANI): While speaking to ANI, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia on Saturday said, “I have written to Sreedharan sahib and told him that Delhi Metro is running in losses. Its carrying capacity is 40 lakh passengers everyday but presently its carrying only 25 lakh passengers. Our proposal of 'free travel for women on Metro' will be beneficial for Delhi Metro, its ridership will increase and fares will come down. If Delhi government pays fare of women commuters, Delhi Metro should be happy with it.” It comes after the former chief of DMRC, E Sreedharan has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to agree to the proposal. Earlier this month, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that it would make commute for women in public buses and metro trains free.
