Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh), Apr 25 (ANI): Breaking the caste barriers, Juna Akhara, which is considered as one of the prominent Akharas among sadhus designated Kanhaiya Kumar Kashyap, a Dalit sadhu as ‘Mahamandaleshwar’ after performing the diksha ceremony in Uttar Pradesh’s Allahabad on Wednesday. “Mahamandaleshwar” is an influential position in the order at Kumbh 2019. Inclusion of a Dalit in Juna Akhara is significant as in country where dalits are still considered as ‘Untouchables’, who traditionally do dirtiest manual jobs, in their occupations. This is not the first time a Dalit religious scholar has been given “diksha” by an akhara. In the last Kumbh, Niranjani Akhara had included a Dalit in its higher position in Ujjain.
