Kite Festival ‘Sila Noi’ held at Guwahati to save Brahmaputra

Guwahati (Assam), Feb 1 (ANI): The Jeevan Kite River Festival ‘Sila Noi’ has entered into its 8th annual edition. This festival was first started in 2012, and is a part of the Brahmaputra campaign. This event took place from January 27-January 31 on the banks of River Brahmaputra. The main event of this river festival is kite flying which included participation of more than thousands of kites in different shapes and sizes. The initiative behind the kite festival is to give people the idea that river banks could be used for various cultural and recreational activities, such poetry sessions, food festivals, film festivals etc, rock concerts etc. The other activities like adventure sports, cultural shows, puppet shows, film shows, workshops, boat ride, story-telling, exhibition, ethnic food stalls and much more occurred at the venue. This festival saw a participation of more than 400 volunteers. A part of the Brahmaputra campaign initiative, the activities of this festival will be held in association with some eminent organisations of the city like Federation of Film Societies, Guwahati Cine Club and few others.
