Kolkata Metro – the lifeline of the people in the metropolitan city

It was in Kolkata, the city of Joy, that the country got its first Metro service in the year 1984. It was a step taken by the Indian Railways to decongest traffic and improve public transport facilities. The Kolkata Metro transports almost 7 lacs passengers on a single weekday & is the second busiest Metro system in the country. Preferred option for majority of people of the city, Kolkata Metro is spreading its wings all round the city with new projects coming up which will criss-cross across the city expanding connectivity. Moreover, Indian Railways is also taking great efforts to ensure the convenience and safety of passengers. And to further boost the safety measures, Indian Railways is going to introduce a CBTC (Communication Based Train Control System) in order to prevent accidents and collisions in the new metro lines. Kolkata metro has not only been instrumental in providing people with the best and most affordable commuting option by making their journey less arduous, but has also constantly been striving to provide reliable services and remains to be the pride of the residents of the city of joy.
