Kumbh 2019 commences: Hindu seers, devotees move towards Sangam Ghat for ‘Shahi Snan’

Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh), Jan 15 (ANI): The grand Kumbh Mela of 2019 commenced on Tuesday with devotees and Hindu seers moving towards the Sangam Ghat for the first holy dip. The ‘Shahi Snan’ will mark the harvest festival of Makar Sankranti and of the highly anticipated Kumbh Mela. Amidst heightened security, people moved in thousands, chanting Lord Shivas name. The 55-day long Kumbh Mela will end on March 04. It is the largest human congregation in the world, with over 130 million pilgrims expected to participate in the festival with the belief that taking a dip in the holy water of Ganga River will pave the way for their salvation and would rid them of their sins.
