Medical students hold protest over high unemployment rate

Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Aug 06 (ANI): More than 200 medical students thronged to the streets in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar to protest against the state government over high rate of unemployment. Protestors were anguished on their state of unemployment as they alleged that students who have qualified from private medical colleges, which are not All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) approved, build under government’s policies are filling up their seats. Diploma in Medical Radiology Technology (DMRT) and Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) students from medical colleges demand that those colleges which are not All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) approved should be closed. Effigies of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Health Minister of state, Pratap Jena were burned. “If our demands are not fulfilled within 7 days then we will conduct a gherao of Naveen Patnaik’s house,” said a protestor. The protestors including women protestors were later detained by the police.
