Meet 12-year-old Kashmiri girl, who brought gold for country in martial arts

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir), Dec 30 (ANI): Hanaya Nisar, 12, is a Kashmiri martial artist from Kokernag area in Anantnag, who was featured in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on Sunday, bagged the gold medal in 2018 International Martial Arts Contest held in South Korea. Speaking to ANI, Nisar expressed her happiness on being appreciated by the Prime Minister and said, “Now I feel that I need to focus more and achieve more.” Sharing her experience of winning first ever medal in a local martial art contest in Pahalgam, Nisar said, “My family supported me when I won bronze medal. I had a feeling that bronze is the third medal, so I am at the third position, I did not feel good about it. When my family supported then I felt motivated and wanted to bag gold next time.” Hanaya Nisar wants to meet PM Modi and “talk to him about my dreams of representing my country.”
