National Rice Research Institute develops solar pest management ‘Alternate Energy Light Trap’ device

Cuttack (Odisha), Mar 02 (ANI): The scientists of ICAR-National Rice Research Institute in Odisha’s Cuttack have developed a solar pest management ‘Alternate Energy Light Trap’ device. They received patent for the device on February 08, 2021. ‘Alternate Energy Light Trap’ device will help in identifying and mass trapping of insects attacking crops. They had initially filed patent for the device in the year 2014. Then, the final patent was filed in 2015. While speaking to ANI, the Principal Scientist (Entomology) in Crop Protection Division of ICAR-National Rice Research Institute, Dr Shyamaranjan Das Mohapatra said, “We have got a patent for the device. It helps in identifying and mass trapping of insects attacking crops.”
