Newly appointed CEC Om Prakash Rawat suggests amendments to Centre for simultaneous elections

New Delhi, Jan 23 (ANI): Om Prakash Rawat has taken over as the new Chief Election Commissioner on Tuesday. After taking over as the new Chief Election Commissioner, Rawat shared that the major challenges that he would have to face is to conduct various elections in this year. He also said that the Lok Sabha elections are due for next year and would be a big challenge as they need yearlong preparations. He added that the Election Commission has suggested amendments in the Constitution and various laws to the Centre like conducting elections simultaneously. He further stated that the EC will be prepared for the required amendments needed in the regard.
