Odisha bandh: Over 80 agitators arrested in protest demanding MSP hike

Bhubaneswar (Odisha) Feb 21 (ANI): As a group of farmers under the banner of Naba Nirman Krushak Sanghathan (NNKS) held protests on the streets of Bhubaneswar, at least 80-90 agitators were arrested on preventive sections of law by local police, said Cuttack- Bhubaneswar Commissioner of Police Satyajit Mohanty. Mohanty said, “Many of the leading members of the organisation have been arrested and the situation in Bhubaneswar-Cuttack is normal and there has been no incidents of road blockade. The agitators who were arrested were protesting demanding proper minimum support price (MSP) on paddy and other agricultural produces, pension and prestige for the farmers. The NNKS was observing a 12-hour shutdown to protest against the policies of Naveen Patnaik government.
