Onam celebrations cancelled in Kerala’s Sri Ayyappa Temple due to floods

Munnar (Kerala), Aug 25 (ANI): As Kerala is reeling under heavy flood situation, celebrations of Onam festival have been cancelled in Kerala’s Sri Ayyappa Temple in Anachal. This year no celebrations will take place on the festival of Onam in Sri Ayyappa Temple. However, the temple will donate funds for the flood victims through relief camps. Due to the ongoing flood situation, the temple has not been decorated. Sukumaran Nair, Secretary, Sri Ayyappa Temple said, “This year there is no celebrations due to floods and sufferings of people. As a lot of people lost their houses, they are left with no way to come here. From the temple we are giving money to the camps where people are sheltered. The cash we earlier used for celebrations, this year we can use that cash for the flood victims.”
