Politicos condemn attack on Umar Khalid

New Delhi, Aug 13 (ANI): Politicos reacted on the shocking attempt to shoot the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student Umar Khalid outside the Constitution Club of India in New Delhi. Bharataiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Meenakshi Lekhi said that the firing was done with the purpose of intimidation, or intention of sending a message, or was done to cause a chaos. While comparing the incident with mob lynching, D Raja, National Secretary of Communist Party of India (CPI), said that the attempt to shoot Umar Khalid shows what is in the store for other leaders. Leader of CPI, Brinda Karat lashed out at Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and said, “The people from sangh parivar who tagged him as anti-national get a license to kill as they killed Gauri Lankesh.” An unidentified man opened fire at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student Umar Khalid outside the Constitution Club of India in New Delhi on Monday afternoon. Khalid remained unhurt. The student activist had arrived at the club to attend an event named ‘Towards a Freedom Without Fear’, when the incident happened. The shooter managed to escape but dropped his gun at the spot.
