Preparations for ‘Mysuru Dasara’ begins

Mysuru (Karnataka), Aug 22 (ANI): People of Karnataka’s Mysuru started preparations for its 10-day festival ‘Mysuru Dasara’ from August 22. The festival starts with Navaratri and the lasts till Vijayadashami. The Mysuru Dasara is a tradition that Raja Wadiyar I, the ninth ruler of the Mysuru kingdom, is believed to have started in 1610. The festival attracts visitors from all over the world. The festival is observed on the tenth day in the Hindu calendar month of Ashvin, which typically falls in the Gregorian months of September and October.
