UP prisons to serve as ‘gaushalas’, inmates to tend cows

Ayodhya, Gorakhpur (UP), July 06 (ANI): In order to promote cow welfare, the Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to set up cow shelters (gaushalas) in prisons. The prison inmates will tend the cows. People will get milk and cow dung which is used in producing organic vegetables. Several abandoned and old cows face many problems and die horrific death from food contamination. CM Yogi Adityanath Government has been keen on cow welfare and cleared Rs 2 crore to open gaushalas in jails. District jails of Meerut, Gorakhpur, Sultanpur, Kanpur Dehat, Balrampur, Agra, Barabanki, Sitapur and Raebareli etc have been chosen to open shelters that will house abandoned and old cows.
