Puducherry, Oct 20 (ANI): Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi completed her 200th weekend rounds of ‘Mission Puducherry Water Rich’ on Saturday, as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Bedi along with her team visited Pillayarkuppam, Suthukeny and Korkadu tank. They reviewed progress made in cleaning 86 kilometers of 23 water channels to water bodies. Several of which were taken up by donors. Kiran Bedi also interacted with donors. “It’s like accumulated debt and we are clearing it. We are correcting the past, working for the present and now planning for the better future so that people of the area remain water rich,” said Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi. After taking charge as Puducherry Lieutenant Governor, Kiran Bedi started an initiative to go for inspection round every weekend morning. She insured things like cleaning of ponds, lakes and public places as a part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. In her 200th review, Kiran Bedi looked over the work done until now with help of private organisations. This move will help thousands of farmers and villagers around Pondicherry city. Team Water Rich Puducherry today extended its reach to urban and semi-urban drains beside water-ways. All the team members, including Bedi, have allocated drains to themselves to daily inspect progress.
