Rajasthan grabs three National Tourism Awards for 2016-17

New Delhi, Sep 30 (ANI): The land of kings, Rajasthan which has historically been a tourist hub, bagged three national awards this year during the National Tourism Awards 2016-17 at a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhavan in capital New Delhi on the occasion of the National Tourism Day. While Rajasthan shared the award for Comprehensive Development of Tourism with Goa, it was on coveted top in the category of Best Film Promotion Friendly State and Use of Information technology, Social media, and website. Kuldeep Ranka, the Principal Secretary of Rajasthan tourism department, Pradeep Kumar, Director of Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) and joint Director Punita Singh received the award for Rajasthan. Held under the aegis of Tourism Ministry, the ceremony felicitated the people and places responsible for the country extraordinary growth in the tourism industry. The parameters responsible for presenting the award included tourist footfall, the initiative of the state government and policies taken to make the state tourist friendly. Rajasthan has been instrumental in the phenomenal growth story of India in the tourism sector. It has been attracting millions of domestic and global tourists every year. It is pertinent to mention here that the state which boasts of its hospitality also emerged victorious in two categories of hotels. While Hotel Samode Haveli near Jaipur won the best heritage hotel award, the Oberoi Udaivilas in Udaipur was awarded the best hotel in the five-star deluxe hotel category.
