Residents block government’s office against illegal mining in Ravi river

Kathua (J&K), Jan 18 (ANI): Agitated over the ignoring attitude of Government regarding illegal mining in Ravi river, the residents of Keerian-Gandyal residing near river staged protest and also blocked the DC office road. President of Ravi River Action Committee, Mohinder Kumar said that the protestors were raising slogans against various government departments like District Mining, Pollution control, Irrigation and Flood control for not taking any action against the illegal mining going on at a rapid pace. He added that the mining is causing a serious threat to environment and water level is also going down as a consequence. It is also causing drinking water and irrigation crisis. This is the fifth time that people are forced to come out on road but the government is still not showing any concern over the matter. The protestors also met with Deputy Commissioner Rohit Khajuria and submitted a memorandum.
