Sangrur (Punjab), Oct 12 (ANI): Amid the ongoing debate over stubble burning, farmers in Sangrur burnt stubble in protest and refused to abide by order against it. The farmers in Punjab and Haryana have been asking the state governments to give subsidy if they want the farmers to stop burning paddy crops. Farmers claim that stubble burning is for betterment of land and they will continue doing so till their demands are met. While the central and state governments, and even the National Green Tribunal (NGT) have come down heavily on stubble-burning, farmers say they have no options available to avoid burning the crop residue.
