New Delhi, Sep 26 (ANI): Former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said that United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government introduced the Aadhaar scheme with restriction to few benefits and subsidies. He alleged that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government extended it beyond the benefits and subsidies. “Why government doesn’t except that it has received a firm slap on the wrist that it shouldn’t try to extend original purpose of Aadhaar,” “The SC struck down everything beyond the original purpose of Aadhaar, what the SC has done, saves the Aadhaar of UPA government and struck down the Aadhaar of NDA government,” said Chidambaram. The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the constitutional validity of the flagship Aadhaar scheme. The court in its judgment has listed out a host of services for which linking of Aadhaar is not mandatory.
