Srinagar (J&K), Mar 05 (ANI): One of Kashmir’s most influential separatist leader, Yasin Malik, was arrested by the police on Monday, as he led a protest march in Srinagar over death of three civilians in alleged firing by the Indian Army. The deceased youths were killed in Shopian in the cross-firing between militants and the army personnel. The firing ensued after the soldiers signalled a car to stop at a check post and militants inside opened fire. The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), called for a shutdown in Srinagar to protest the killings. A militant, a member of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was also killed in the firing. Protestors stepped out on the roads despite restrictions with their arms around each other and surrounded Malik as policemen tried to arrest him. Terming the deaths of the civilians as ‘murders’, Malik said they were aimed at terrorising the people of Kashmir.
