Puri (Odisha), Jul 10 (ANI): Devotees, priests, and temple servitors defended the tradition of not allowing non-Hindus in the sanctorium of famous Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri. The fumed reactions came after Supreme Court on July 5 directed the management of the famed Lord Jagannath Temple to consider allowing every visitor, irrespective of faith, to offer prayers and offerings to the deity. The court had asked the temple management to consider the decision, subject to regulatory measures, in terms of dress code, religious practices and to make offerings to the deity. The decision of the Supreme Court comes ahead of the annual 'Rath Yatra' which is attended by millions of people every year.
