STF team rescues 2 pangolins from Odisha’s Mayurbhanj

Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Dec 08 (ANI): A Special Task Force (STF) team arrested four persons in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha and two live Pangolins were seized from them. The traffickers were apparently trying to sell the animals at a cost of Rs 22 lakh. Satyajit Nayak, SP STF, Bhubaneswar said, “There were two live animals (Pangolins) one mother and one baby. For selling these animals they were dealing with somebody for about 20-22 lakh Rs. After getting the information about this case we arrested them on the spot and two live animals were successfully rescued”. “We are talking with the forest department because soon we will release the animals under their safe custody and natural environment”, he added. “Under the wildlife protection act we have registered the case. These animals are endangered species and we’ll investigate detail about this”, he further stated.
