Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir), Jun 05 (ANI): Students from various schools of Srinagar and other districts of Jammu and Kashmir (J and K) participated in an exhibition and awareness programme on solid waste management. The objective of the programme was to find eco-friendly ways of solid waste disposal and increasing awareness among the youth of J and K. Students were able to create models that showcased how waste can be used as an effective source of energy at the same time keeping the famous tourism destination clean and beautiful. Praising the efforts of the children, Baseer Ahmad Khan, Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir said, "Society as a whole must imbibe this mindset and thinking that was seen amongst the students. It is hoped that these models can be implemented on a large scale." This initiative was a step towards the creation of Kashmir's first 'Eco Park' using recyclable material. The event was held by the Eco Peace NGO of Kashmir in collaboration with Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC).
